Dr Tim Millar from the University of Manchester, has worked in addiction epidemiology for over 30 years, and is also a member of the ACMD. Tim leads a Medical Research Council cluster called the “Nationally Integrated Quantitative Understanding of Addiction Harm (NIQUAD) MRC Addiction Research Cluster”.

Dr Matthias Pierce

Dr Matthias Pierce is a biostatsitician working in mental health epidemiology at the University of Manchester. He has published many papers on mortality and offending outcomes associated with opioid use in the UK.

Rebecca Hamer
Team Partner

Rebecca Hamer is a Doctoral Researcher at Sheffield Hallam University with a previous background in Social Research (MA) and sociological History (BA) from the University of Leeds.

She has worked as a researcher on sex work projects and is interested in a gendered focus on addiction issues, with particular attention to street sex working, domestic violence and a ‘whole person’ approach to recovery.
Her PhD is part of the Recovery Pathways project and is funded by the Doctoral Training Alliance and Scottish Government, and will focus on women’s recovery in Scotland.
